Chapter 11 - Philadelphia, PA - Joining forces with Wyatt's Wishes
Director:  Megan McGrory

Megan married her husband in 2006 after 7 years of being with each other. They  began trying to start a family in October of 2007. After two long years of trying, they finally conceived on 11/29/2009 through IVF. Their baby was due on 8/19/2010, but prior to the due date, they found out that the baby had a heart condition. After being rushed to CHOP in Philly, they found out their son, Wyatt, had a serious heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. In addition, his heart was causing him to have fetal hydrops, which is fluid in and around the baby. They choose to have fetal intervention surgery done to see if the doctors could place a hole into the chambers of Wyatt's heart to relieve some of the pressure. This would allow him a better chance of survival until his lungs developed enough to be delivered. On 6/4/2010, at 29 weeks and 1 day, the surgery was performed. The doctors tried three times, but they couldn't keep the hole from closing in Wyatt's heart. Finally, they had to stop as Wyatt's heart was losing strength. At 12:28pm on 6/4/2010, the doctors determined that Wyatt had become an angel and returned to heaven.  Wyatt was delivered on Sunday, 6/6/2010, Megan's birthday, at 4:48pm, only a few minutes shy of being EXACTLY 30 years apart. They were able to keep Wyatt in their room over night and the 28 hours that they spent with their son, their first child, will be the best memories of their entire lives. They miss my son every day, but understand that he is in a better place now, and would have had a difficult life if he survived. They love their baby boy more than God knows and miss him so much.

Megan established an organization in Wyatt's name called Wyatt's Wishes. The organization creates Angel Care Packages to donate to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). This chapter of Forever Warm will donate blankets to Wyatt's Wishes for the care packages.  Megan also makes Handmade Cards from the Heart, which are donated with the Angel Care Packages and used as part of a BLM Penpal group. Wyatt's Wishes also volunteers to support walks and fundraisers. All money raised for Wyatt's Wishes is donated toward making packages and cards, or it is donated to CHOP or Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDTS).

Chapter 12 - Huntsville, AL
Director:  Victoria Ross Lofton

I come from a family of women that were very involved in all types of needle work. When I turned ten years old I was introduced to these things.  My Aunt Mil was a divine seamstress. She made Wedding Gowns, and other types of clothing for her niece my mom.  Aunt Mary she crocheted everyday.  She found joy in her craft and she made us the most beautiful blankets and throws. My grandmother Anita and her sister Aunt Victoria took pride in making heirloom table clothes.  My mother Elsie she took pleasure in sewing, knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. So now forty-two years later I am sharing what I learned about crocheting and needlepoint with my daughter Janel.  My greatest joy is making throws, for family and friends.  I also want to share my craft with the people of my new home here in Huntsville, AL.
